my mini vaca in pics - part 1

So off we drove, 5am on a Monday morning...we had a lovely trip up to Herolds Bay where we spent 2 nights. Herolds Bay will always hold a place close to my heart as it is where my family went during most school holidays while I was growing up. I learnt to crawl and walk there - so there are plenty memories.

On Wednesday morning at 5.30am we departed on our second stretch of the journey...Mount Camdeboo, Karoo. We were lucky enough to be given a 2 night stay complete with game drives, food and drinks...ALL for free!! We learnt some very valuable lessons from this trip and will always remember them...

1) there are NO one-stop garages on the N2 between Herolds Bay and Graaff Reinet. (4.5hr drive)
2) when you stop in a teeeeny tiiny town they DO NOT take credit cards...
3) they dont "do" breakfast in the Karoo, they do however "do" a 3 course BRUNCH! nom nom nom
4) they AREN'T joking when they say "the karoo sun is 3 times stronger than what we are used to" - I have the sunburn to prove it
5) it IS perfectly acceptable to drink from 7.30am, as this is when the first plane flies over the reserve ;)
6) driving faster over potholes, so not to get stuck in them, does NOT mean u won't pop a tyre...at 4.45am...in the pitch dark...down a gravel rd in a game reserve with NO fencing...and free roaming wildlife.
7) having a strong bladder is ALWAYS a positive :)

Anyway, here are some of our pics!

more pics coming soon.

xx
